Communication Assessment
At the end of every session, you will have your communicative progress in English evaluated through an oral Communication Assessment. With an instructor and a Canadian from either the Vancouver, Victoria or Toronto communities, you will be asked to use the language structures that you have learned in class. Besides being an excellent way of evaluating communicative proficiency, the Communication Assessment is a great way of meeting Canadians!

Advancement
Most levels at Pacific Gateway have a 3-session curriculum. You will advance to higher levels at Pacific Gateway as your English ability improves. Your advancement to the next level depends upon a combination of the following factors:

  • Student progress reports
  • Attitude in class
  • Class participation
  • Class attendance (above 85%)
  • TOEIC® results
  • Communication Assessment
  • Recommendations from instructors

Challenge
The Student Challenge is a written and oral examination for those students who have excelled quickly in their class and may be ready for the next level prior to completing 3 months at their current level. If you demonstrate mastery of the curriculum at your level, you will be promoted to the next level.
